DESCRIPTION
The Yamaha Revstar RS20MM was designed hand-in-hand with Matteo Mancuso to reflect the look, feel and response of his personal custom Revstar. Every spec was chosen to support clarity, control and articulation — the qualities behind his fluid phrasing and dynamic precision. As Matteo puts it, "I choose Revstar because it's rare to find a solid body that has so much flexibility for jazz and rock. I can achieve every sound I need thanks to the chambered body and the 5-way selector switch, plus it's super comfortable to play."
At the heart of the RS20MM are DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary humbuckers, redesigned around vintage PAF specifications. Their softer magnetic pull lets the strings vibrate more freely, producing long sustain and a highly expressive response to pick attack. Locking tuners keep everything in tune when the set gets demanding.
The chambered mahogany body is built using Yamaha's exclusive Acoustic Design process, enhancing resonance while cutting weight, and a carbon-reinforced three-piece mahogany neck adds strength and stability. The result is a balanced, resonant guitar that stays comfortable through a long night on stage.
Wiring is where the Revstar really opens up. The push/pull tone control acts as a Focus Switch, engaging a passive boost that emulates an overwound pickup with darker highs and enhanced mids and lows. The 5-way switching system adds a subtle phase shift in positions 2 and 4 by slightly delaying the opposite pickup, giving a fresh twist on classic in-between tones. Visually, a Vintage Sunburst flame-maple top meets all-gold hardware, with Matteo's signature on the truss-rod cover and a logo inlay at the 12th fret marking it as the official signature model.
