DESCRIPTION
The Buffet Crampon E11 Bb Clarinet, serial number 4099XX, is a highly respected intermediate wooden clarinet manufactured in Germany during the late 1990s to early 2000s. Produced by the renowned German manufacturer Schreiber under contract for Buffet Crampon, the E11 combines German precision craftsmanship with Buffet's celebrated acoustic design, making it one of the most recommended step-up clarinets for advancing musicians.
Unlike Buffet Crampon's professional French-made instruments, E11 serial numbers follow Schreiber's production records rather than Buffet's professional serial number sequence. As a result, this instrument's serial number will not appear within Buffet Crampon's standard professional serial number databases.
Crafted from carefully seasoned unstained Grenadilla wood (African Blackwood), the E11 offers the rich, warm, and resonant tonal qualities expected from professional wooden clarinets. Compared to ABS resin student instruments, Grenadilla provides greater projection, improved tonal depth, and increased dynamic flexibility while maintaining excellent durability.
The E11 features a slightly wider intermediate bore that creates an exceptionally free-blowing response with reduced resistance. This design helps developing players build proper breath support while maintaining excellent control, making it an outstanding choice for middle school, high school, and advancing musicians preparing for more demanding repertoire.
Built with the standard Boehm key system featuring 17 keys and 6 rings, the durable nickel silver keywork is finished in nickel plating for smooth action, dependable regulation, and long-lasting reliability. The comfortable ergonomics encourage proper hand position and technical development, while the instrument's excellent intonation and responsive mechanism make it equally at home in concert band, orchestra, chamber ensembles, private study, and solo performance.
This particular instrument is in very good playing condition with only minor scratches and light cosmetic wear to the keywork. The Buffet Crampon logos show light fading from normal use but remain visible. There are no cracks in the Grenadilla wood body. Our technician has adjusted the clarinet to General Playing Condition, ensuring it is ready for its next player. The original hard-shell case and mouthpiece are included.
