DESCRIPTION

This 3/4-size violin carries the traditional "Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonensis Faciebat Anno 1722" label associated with the famous instruments of Antonio Stradivari. Despite the historic-looking label, this is not an authentic violin made by Antonio Stradivari — it is a later student- or amateur-grade reproduction built in the style of Stradivari's instruments.

Violins carrying this type of Stradivari label were produced in large numbers by workshops and factories, particularly in Germany, Czechoslovakia, and France, from the late 18th through the 20th centuries. In these instruments the label generally identifies the model or pattern being copied rather than the actual maker. Stradivari's designs became some of the most influential patterns in violin making, which is why so many European makers and manufacturers worked from them.

The 3/4-size format makes this violin especially suitable for a young or smaller player who has progressed beyond a 1/2-size instrument but isn't ready for a full-size 4/4 yet. Traditional violin construction — typically a spruce top with maple back and ribs, often a two-piece back that may be plain or lightly flamed, finished in amber, yellow-brown, or red-brown varnish — and Stradivari-inspired styling make it an attractive choice for study, practice, and developing musicianship.

A note about authenticity: the "Antonius Stradiuarius" label should be understood as a model or reproduction label, not a claim of authorship by Antonio Stradivari. The year 1722 refers to a genuine period in Stradivari's career, but authentic violins from that period are full-size professional instruments and are extraordinarily rare and valuable. This instrument should be evaluated as a later 3/4-size student violin. It arrives shop adjusted and ready to play, presented as a complete outfit.
