DESCRIPTION
The Yamaha YPC-30 is a vintage, all-metal student piccolo built to deliver dependable performance, a clear projecting tone, and the familiar response players associate with a traditional metal piccolo. It pairs a nickel-silver body and headjoint with silver-plated keys and a cylindrical bore, representing an earlier generation of Yamaha student piccolos.
That metal construction gives the YPC-30 a characteristically bright, focused, and projecting sound — tonally a bit closer to a concert flute than the warmer, wood-like character of grenadilla or resin piccolos. It's a natural fit for concert band and other ensemble settings where the piccolo needs to carry clearly above the group.
This particular instrument is a perennial favorite of music teachers around the world. There are many feather scratches throughout the piccolo, but no dings, pings, or dents on the parts, and our technician has adjusted it for General Playing Conditions. It ships with its original hard-shell case.
The YPC-30 was manufactured in the United States and has become a recognizable vintage Yamaha piccolo, valued for its straightforward student design and durable metal construction. Its cylindrical bore sets it apart from later Yamaha student piccolos such as the YPC-32, which use a different bore and construction approach — making it an interesting choice for players, collectors, and anyone after the distinctive response of a vintage metal piccolo.
