The Roland FP-40 packs authentic acoustic piano expression, modern connectivity, and built-in learning tools into a slim, portable instrument. It's aimed squarely at beginners, returning players, and developing pianists who want a premium playing experience without a complicated interface.
Roland's Piano Reality sound engine delivers the natural response, resonance, dynamics, and tonal color of an acoustic piano, backed by 256-note maximum polyphony. A newly engineered speaker system with dual 8 x 12 cm drivers and 12 watts per channel gives the FP-40 clear, spacious sound with real depth in the lower register.
The acclaimed PHA-4 Standard action provides 88 weighted keys with hammer action, escapement, Ivory Feel surfaces, and triple-sensor detection for fast, accurate repetition. Subtle changes in touch come through naturally, so your control grows along with your technique. Beyond the 40 tones available directly from the panel, another 265 are accessible through the Roland Piano App, along with Piano Designer parameters for lid position, string, damper, and cabinet resonance, temperament, and individual note character.
Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.4 Audio/MIDI connect the FP-40 to phones, tablets, and apps, while the USB-C Mobile/PC port handles USB MIDI, USB audio, and power delivery to compatible smartphones. A USB-A memory port plays SMF, WAV, and MP3 files from a flash drive. The Piano Sphere app, developed with Skoove, adds personalized lessons, feedback, activity and streak tracking, and song content, with an optional upgrade unlocking more than 1,000 additional songs.
