DESCRIPTION
The SE Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition keeps everything that defines the Silver Sky — the feel, the response, the playability — and wraps it in a bold new visual identity. For this run, John Mayer and PRS looked outside the guitar world entirely, pulling from the contemporary Defender palette of more than 900 colors and decades of history to land on four finishes: Petra Copper, Sedona Red, Carpathian Grey, and Woolstone Green.
Each finish is paired with a black pickguard, a first for the Silver Sky model, for a striking take on an instrument that was always built to be played. A custom neck plate unique to the limited run and a custom PRS/Land Rover gig bag complete the package.
Under the paint, this is the Silver Sky players already know. A poplar solidbody, 25.5" scale maple bolt-on neck with the 635JM shape, 8.5"-radius rosewood fretboard with small bird inlays, and 22 PRS SE medium frets. Three PRS 635JM "S" single-coils deliver full, warm vintage-inspired tones with a musical high end that never turns brash, wired to a volume, two tone controls, and a 5-way blade switch.
The PRS 2-point steel tremolo offers comfortable vibrato work with strong tuning stability, and the vintage-style closed-back tuners are engineered to promote resonance. Functional, distinctive, and made to inspire — the Defender Color Collection is available for a limited time only.
