DESCRIPTION
The PRS Standard harkens back to Paul Reed Smith's pre-factory all-mahogany guitars. Its all-mahogany construction promotes a warm, full, midrange-forward tone, while the "sinky" satin nitro finish brings a stripped-down look and a roadworthy feel to the instrument.
The Standard 24 carries many classic PRS specifications: a 25" scale length, Pattern Thin neck, and a 24-fret rosewood fretboard with a 10" radius and bird inlays. The PRS Patented Tremolo, Gen III handles the bridge duties, and PRS Phase III locking tuners with unplated brass shafts keep tuning stable while promoting tone transfer for a louder, more resonant instrument.
Under the hood, the Standard 24 is outfitted with PRS DMO treble and bass pickups, wired to volume and tone controls and a 5-way blade switch. DMO stands for Dynamic, Musical, Open — these pickups have a "wide open" sound with vocal character, delivering clear, pleasant-sounding tones across a wide range of frequencies from bass to treble in each pickup.
DMO pickups were personally designed by Paul Reed Smith and the PRS New Products Engineering team, drawing on hands-on research into coveted vintage pickup models along with advancements in signal analyzation and "tuning" technology. Raise your standards with this stage- and studio-ready guitar.
