DESCRIPTION
The RG series is the most recognizable and distinctive guitar in the Ibanez line. Three decades of metal have forged this high-performance machine, honing it for both speed and strength — and the GRGR131EX brings that same DNA to a price point that makes sense for players who need a hard-working instrument without compromise.
At the core is a poplar solidbody with impressive balance and resonance, finished in a limited-edition Crushed Steel satin polyurethane and dressed in black hardware. The bolt-on GRG maple neck adds stability and bright tonal character, while the bound purpleheart fretboard emphasizes the rich tonal character of the guitar and carries 24 frets plus reversed black Sharktooth inlays for an aggressive look under the lights.
Electronics are handled by a pair of Infinity R ceramic humbuckers at the neck and bridge. They deliver accurate, tight sound with excellent dynamics, and even under heavy settings they don't lose tonal clarity. A 5-way blade switch expands the available pickup combinations well beyond a standard H-H layout, with master volume and master tone keeping the controls simple.
Hardware details matter here too. The F106 hardtail bridge enriches sustain and lets you adjust string height easily and independently, while the mono-unit output jack is a single piece of solid, durable material that avoids the unwanted movement and loosening that leads to contact failure or disconnection — less maintenance, more playing.
