G2 heads have twice the plies for twice the endurance. At 7mm each, the two plies of film let you beat on the drums that much harder, while still retaining a moderate sustain and attack. The clear surface is brighter and more resonant than a coated surface, giving your toms more ring and tone while losing some articulation.
