DESCRIPTION
One of Epiphone's original and most enduring classics is back. First introduced in the early '60s, the Riviera's semi-hollow design has won over players across every genre and generation, including blues greats Robben Ford and Otis Rush, Lou Reed of the Velvet Underground, and Nick Valensi of The Strokes — all of whom found that the legendary ES body shape can deliver great tone with just about any pickup configuration.
This Riviera is built with a layered maple top, back, and sides around a maple centerblock, paired with a glued-in mahogany neck carved to a comfortable Rounded C profile. The laurel fingerboard carries 22 medium jumbo frets, trapezoid inlays, and a 12" radius over a 24.72" scale, with a Graph Tech NuBone nut at the top end. Period-correct details include the 3-layer Riviera pickguard with its classic metal Epiphone "E," the Sloped Dove Wing headstock with Mother of Pearl logo and dot inlay, and single-ply cream binding on the top, back, and fretboard.
Electronics are pure Riviera: a pair of Epiphone PRO Mini Humbuckers routed through 2 Volume and 2 Tone controls with CTS potentiometers and a 3-way toggle, giving you everything from chimey cleans to tight, cutting lead tones. A LockTone Tune-O-Matic adjustable bridge and Frequensator tailpiece anchor the strings, with nickel hardware and Epiphone Vintage Deluxe metal button tuners completing the vintage look.
