DESCRIPTION
The limited-edition Epiphone Les Paul Custom 100th Anniversary Outfit celebrates everything iconic about the Les Paul design — and the man responsible for so much of how we play and hear music today. For Les's 100th birthday, Epiphone pulled out all the stops, dressing this Custom in 24K gold hardware, abalone and pearloid inlays, and commemorative details you won't find on a standard production model.
Much of modern music and guitar playing traces back to Les Paul. His solo recordings and his duo work with Mary Ford generated multiple hit records, he pioneered multitrack recording and guitar looping, and he was an early innovator with reverb and delay. But his most iconic work was with the solidbody electric guitar — and music changed forever when Gibson put the Les Paul into production in the early 1950s.
This anniversary edition is dressed for the occasion. The truss rod cover, Tune-o-matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece, and Grover Imperial tuners are all finished in 24K gold. The headstock and Pau Ferro fingerboard are inlaid with a combination of abalone and pearloid, and the whole package is capped off with a sparkling Zirconium stone set into the dot of the "i" in the Epiphone logo. A commemorative decal on the back of the headstock reads "The Legacy of Les Paul: 1915 - 2015."
Tonally, the two ProBucker humbuckers do the heavy lifting. Designed at Gibson's pickup factory in Nashville, Tennessee, they're re-creations of the classic Gibson PAF pickups, delivering the powerful midrange and crystal-clear top end players prize in great vintage Les Pauls. Push-pull volume pots let you split the coils for bell-like single-coil sounds, so you get real sonic variety from a classic two-humbucker layout.
