DESCRIPTION
Made in collaboration with the Gibson Custom Shop, the Epiphone 1959 Les Paul Standard is Epiphone's recreation of the rare vintage classic — updated to be more authentic and true to the originals than ever.
It starts with a mahogany body and a maple top capped with AAA flame maple veneer, finished in Vintage Original Sheen (VOS) Iced Tea. The one-piece mahogany neck carries a comfortable '59 rounded medium C profile, a long neck tenon and the Gibson-style "open book" R9 headstock shape, with a laurel fingerboard, 12" radius, 22 frets and a GraphTech nut.
Electronics are where this one really earns its badge: Gibson Custombucker humbuckers at both positions, '50s-era wiring with Mallory capacitors, CTS pots, a Switchcraft three-way selector and a Switchcraft 1/4" output jack. Period-correct touches continue with a non-beveled pickguard, an ABR-1 style bridge and Gibson Historic Reissue aluminum stop bar tailpiece, and Epiphone Deluxe vintage tuners with Keystone buttons.
