DESCRIPTION
The Tama HP30 is a smooth-playing single-chain bass drum pedal that packs in features you normally have to pay a lot more to get. At its heart is the Power Glide cam, which builds power and speed as the beater reaches the end of the stroke, so you get more out of each motion of your foot.
Adjustability is where the HP30 really separates itself from other pedals in its price range. The beater angle adjusts easily to dial in beater excursion and pedal travel, and the adjustment system is linked to the footboard angle so you can recall your favorite setting without guesswork. Spring tension is adjustable as well, letting you set the response exactly where you want it.
The included DS30 beater gives you two sounds in one: rotate the head to use the soft felt side for a warmer, more controlled tone, or flip to the hard plastic side for a louder, punchier attack that cuts through. That makes the HP30 a flexible choice across most styles of music.
Borrowing an idea from Tama's flagship Iron Cobra, the HP30 uses a specially-shaped tension nut — the same thinking behind the "Spring Tight" feature — that prevents the spring unit from loosening, so your pedal action stays put instead of slipping as you play.
