DESCRIPTION
The epitome of Trumpet manufacturing is arguably the Bach Stradivarius Model 180S37.
This impressive instrument has been at the front of countless March Bands, Wind Ensembles and Orchestras for generations upon generations. Made of a base metal of Yellow Brass with a superior exterior Finish of Silver-Plate, the Bach Strad (as it is lovingly called) is known for its bright and warm sound. With a Bore of .459” and #25 Leadpipe, the trumpet is especially prized for its ability to reach upper partials as well as offering a blended sound through many different genres and uses. The Bell is the classic #37 for which the majority of professionals currently play. This Hand-Hammered Bell is also one piece and with the rest of the instrument, made completely in Elkhart, Indiana. Other novel features include Monel Pistons, a Thumb Saddle for the First Valve Slide and an Adjustable Rod Stop for the Third Valve Slide.
This trumpet is truly the embodiment of a century of impeccable craftsmanship in the heart of the American Mid-West. Celebrate the One hundredth anniversary of the launch of the Bach Stradivarius Trumpet with the purchase of this incredible find. Our advertisement features serial number 6918XX which was made in the now famous Bach factory in Elkhart, Indiana approximately fifteen year ago. While the overall appearance is moderate and intact, the former owner most assuredly marched with the trumpet. There are several points of metal wear down to the bare brass material. On either side of the top portion of the valve casing below the leadpipe and just before the bottom valve caps are clear instances of this metal wear. Either from weather extremes or a leather wrap, the distress on the metal is not severe, but hadn’t been mitigated by the previous owner over the years of custody.
Some minor scrapes at the opening portion of the leadpipe are noted with some Rim deficiency obvious close to the bottom of the bell. Below the Finger Hook on the leadpipe side portion (measuring about an inch in length) is a scuffing of the metal-similar to other sections of the trumpet. Looking directly at the bell outward section, if ever-so-slightly, the earlier mentioned Rim spoilage is also obvious with close observation. Also, there are a few very minor dings and pings on the body proper of the trumpet, but NO dents or serious injury to the instrument that might cause air-flow concerns. We’ve highlighted the majority of visible eye-sores, but that is to make clear that any apprehension about this featured previously owned product is superficial at best.
During the erstwhile ownership, this Bach Strad saw some musical usage and that adds to the warmth of sound of a professional instrument. Our technician preformed an extensive polishing to the exterior of the trumpet, cleaned and lubricated all slides, oiled all valves and brought the trumpet to common playing condition level. This Bach Stradivarius Trumpet comes with the original case and 7C mouthpiece (we also cleaned and polished this product as well).
Considering the exorbitant high cost of a new Bach Strad, this is an advancing trumpet player’s dream and a fantastic instrument to add to any collection.
