A solid Chinese spruce top paired with solid Chinese maple back and ribs gives the VA80 the balanced tonal character you expect from a traditionally built viola.

Fittings are top-quality ebony throughout — fingerboard, tuning pegs, and chinrest — and genuine hand-inlaid purfling adds both traditional looks and real structural detail. A Despiau bridge and a high-gloss varnish finish round out an instrument that presents well on stage and holds up in the practice room.

At 16 inches, this is a full-size viola, offering the larger body and fuller tonal response many advancing students and adult players are after. It's a natural fit for lessons, school orchestra, ensemble playing, and anyone ready to move beyond a beginner outfit.

This highlighted example has very few blemishes — only a few minor surface feather scratches on the top and rims of the body — and has been adjusted by our technician for general playing conditions. It ships as a complete outfit with a hard-shell case and bow.

SPECIFICATIONS

• Maker: Samuel Eastman

• Model: VA80

• Instrument: Viola

• Size: 16 inches

• Level: Entry-level / Student

• Top: Solid Chinese spruce

• Back & Ribs: Solid Chinese maple

• Fingerboard: Ebony

• Tuning Pegs: Ebony

• Chinrest: Ebony

• Purfling: Genuine hand-inlaid

• Bridge: Despiau

• Finish: High-gloss varnish

• Construction: Hand-crafted student instrument

• Intended Use: Lessons, school orchestra, ensemble playing, and developing viola players

• Shop Adjusted & Ready to Play

*Includes Samuel Eastman VA80 16-inch viola, K.
