Just as good as my cousin's $800 Martin. Whoa! $300 = $800? Shocked? So was I. -Martin Man 29396:Seagull S6 Original Guitar at MusiciansBuy!CATEGORY:Guitars|Acoustic guitars|6 String|Seagull|Seagull S and Coastline S Guitars| RATING:
I bought this a model a year ago from musiciansbuy after deciding to start playing again after years off. The solid top, the fact that it is made in North America, and the price got me to buy without ever having played or heard it. I was very pleased right away with the quality and the sound and continue to be pleased as it sounds even better a year later as it ages. The only mild complaint I had with it is that the out of the box set-up was really high making it a little difficult to play. I have no problem taking it in to a luthier to be set up though, as the instrument is well worth it. I liked it so much I bought my son the Seagull mini jumbo which is another outstanding value! -Mike EM9CE4:Tacoma® EM9CE4 with E4 Electric at MusiciansBuy!CATEGORY:Guitars|Acoustic guitars|Tacoma|Little Jumbo| RATING:
Had the action adjusted (lowered). It has a great neck for playing barre chords and finger picking and just easy to play. The sound that this guitar produces, unpluged, is amazing. The combo of tonewoods really gives a full range, good base with nice treble a great balance. The volume, tone and sustain are comparable to Martin, Taylor, Guild etc. You have to play it to appreciate this sound ease of play of this guitar. I bought to resell in the future, but no way!! it has replaced by Guild and Blueridge as my favorite guitar for daily playing. I really lucked out as this was an on-line purchase so I never played before buying. -Gerald 29396:Seagull S6 Original Guitar at MusiciansBuy!CATEGORY:Guitars|Acoustic guitars|6 String|Seagull|Seagull S and Coastline S Guitars| RATING:
I've had the guitar for three years. It stays in tune and has a very clear and crisp sound. I strummed every guitar in the store in this price range and also compared it to some more expensive models with similar features such as the Martin D-18. It is a real value. - 83CD:Buy Dunlop 83CD Curverd Trigger Capo at MusiciansBuy!CATEGORY:Guitars|Accessories|Capos and Slides| RATING:
I bought the Dunlop capo as it looked to be neater than the Kayser capo.
This was the model for 12-string guitar.
I have used several Kayser 12-string capos without any difficulty, but the Dunlop capo doesn't clamp down strong enough on some of the paired strings that have octive strings of a different diameter(Namely the D,A, and G strings), so I get a buzz or an unclear sound.
In addition the use of this capo requires much more hand pressure than the Kayser.
If you want a quick change capo...get a Kayser. -Dr John 29211:Simon and Patrick Woodland Mini Jumbo w/Wild Cherry Body and Solid Top w/ Tuner at MusiciansBuy!CATEGORY:Guitars|Acoustic guitars|6 String|Simon and Patrick|Satin Series| RATING:
I'm a hobbyist and I have several nice guitars, including a couple of Guilds, a Seagull Studio Artist, and a Simon Patrick Sunburst 12-string, which was my only cedar top guitar.
I'm a little partial to Canadian guitars. A few years ago I had a beat up looking used cedar top Seagull that had an amazing sound, which I missed. I had seen the S P Mini-Jumbo and liked the simplicity of it. I was hoping it would be comparable to the Seagull. Anyway, my wife bought the S P Mini-Jumbo for my birthday and I've been waiting for its arrival.
I picked it up today and when I opened the case I saw how perfect it looked. The cedar top is flawless and the wild cherry back and sides have the most beautiful grain you really have to see it to appreciate the craftsmanship. Everything is well-fitted and finished. The photos do not do this guitar justice. For you purists out there, the three-ply laminate back and sides do not diminish the sound at all and you shouldn't let that dissuade you if you're thinking about buying this model. You'll just have to trust me on that.
The Mini-Jumbo is loud and projects a full and even tone it is not tinny at all. It's the sound I had been missing there is something about a cedar top that just works for me. The neck is not super slim, but it isn't as bulky as my Seagull and is easy to get my hand around. The set up is great the action is not too high or too low no string buzz at all. I usually send my new guitars to a luthier at a local music store but this one doesn't need any work, which is really cool. Oh, and the black hardshell case is sweet too it has a wine-colored faux-fur interior.
No BS, if you are looking for a well-built, good quality guitar at a good price and like that even, full, and loud acoustic sound, this is the guitar you should buy.

I recently purchased one of these after owning a D-35 Martin, and a Gibson Songwriter Deluxe, that are both very nice guitars. This guitar is of the same standard of quality, and the finishes are absolutely perfect! Stunning.
A friend of mine that worked at a huge music store in LA told me that anytime they had a customer on a high grade Gibson or Martin $5000 plus the manager insisted that they put the Guild D55 out of sight until they had left, as too many times they would ask to play one and the sale would be OFF!!! He said there is no other guitar for this money that comes close, so I think that is the best possible compliment for the D-55 Guilds........I have never played a nicer guitar in 35 years of trying them all. -Backwoods Picker |
