I just purchased a 62HCL Bass Trombone, and as soon as I played my first note, I loved it. The special valves on the HCL make the horn much freer-blowing and richer below the bass clef staff than the same Conn bass trombone equipped with the standard valves (which I also tried out). There is no real comparison in this regard between the two models of 62H, so the added expense of the HCL model is well worth it! The two independent Christian Lindberg valves are very responsive, and the trigger mechanisms make the valve-switching quick, effortless and transparent. The horn has a rich even sound from bottom to top, with no stuffiness to be found anywhere. The slide is also great, and the three receivers that came with horn gave me some clear choice in shaping the horn that matches my style of playing. In addition to this being a great horn, the service I got from musiciansbuy was outstanding! In my quest for a new bass trombone over the last two months, I had tried to work with two other retailers before finding musiciansbuy online. My representative listened to my needs, and was very helpful through the entire process. I highly recommend both this product and this retailer.

I liked it, but there is a tremendous delay between playing a note and hearing it. It makes it difficult to really play much as it is as if you have to anticipate the sound and play on anyway. I am disappointed that I sent an email to Akai over a week ago without a response. The software that comes with it is very barebones At this point I would not buy this again.

Just a great horn. Easy to play. great high register, excellent workmanship. What else can one say?

This item is great because when you learn how to play a slide and valve trombone you learn how to play two different instruments in one instrument. It is great!!!

I really like this trombone the only thing you need to know is keep the tuning valve greased. and the case gets dinged up easy,how ever this is an excellent trombone,it's great for advanced or intermedate players. the sound is amazing one can produce with this trombone,i highly recomend it.

I've been playing this hor for 4 years now. I love it a lot, and I'm sad to see it go (trading for an Alex 103.) I enjoy the tone quality- you have to try to sound bad, really. As per most Holtons, the mid-low register is very quiet (anything from middle C to Low F.) It's hard to stay in tune. I have a good ear, and I still have to fight with it. Also, it tends to eat my air, I believe this is due to the large bell. It's heavy as well (developed tendonitis..)All of those things aside, it is a lovely horn, and often admired. It is dent resistant, scratch resistant, and wear resistant. I'm really going to miss it. The sound is so dark and pure- delightful, simply delightful.

i have played on a pro horn for years, however , this is one student model i would recommend

This horn is great. I use it for my high school band. My horn is 3 years old and still works like new.

The Leblanc Concerto C clarinet is everything it is advertised to be. The tone is smooth, even, resonant and easily controlable, even in the throat and high C areas, with a fullness very close to that of the Bb clarinet but with a particulary engaging youthfulness and sweetness which sets it apart from the larger instrument. I have had excellent results with 5RV-lyre and Gregory Smith mouthpieces. The intonation is exceptionally good except for high F and F#, which are a little flat with the normal fingerings but very good with the long fingerings. This clarinet is excellent for chamber music as well as orchestral use. I recently used it to play an entire trio program with a bassoonist and pianist we can now more easily adapt works originally written for other instruments. This clarinet also opens the door to the very large repertory of 18th-century oboe and flute music - a lesser instrument would not sing the music as well. I used a TR100 for jazz for 4 years of college. For a small bore horn, the sound quality is quite good. Just get yourself a quality mouthpiece such as a Bach 11C or 6-1 2AL. The slide action rivals that of my King 4B. The case isn't too heavy, but is durable and well balanced. The horn is now several years older and still in use by my son.
