Inside our rigid custom designed cabinet is a 15" driver designed exclusively for this project. It's matched with a new 1.75" Titanium high frequency driver, aimed through a 1" diameter horn. The dB500a features 500 watts of clean power (400 watts low frequency/100 watts high frequency) and has a crossover designed for high SPL. Our exclusive Optimax(TM) signal processing circuitry provides total speaker protection but won't cut the low end at high volumes, as similar speakers with sliding filters do.

The back panel has a built-in mixer-like preamp section with mic and line inputs, XLR connectors and level controls. Controls for the selectable low pass filter and Optimax processing are also included.

The dB500a speaker cabinet features an array of mounting options. Designed with floor monitoring in mind, they are also easily stacked or permanently installed. A 1 3/8" pole receptacle is built in, and 10 reinforced fly points are available.

Features a super heavy-duty custom designed 15 Celestion Tru-Vox low frequency driver and a titanium diaphragm high frequency driver with a 1 throat. The dB500a offers crystal-clear audio and an ultra-wide sound field. The top end is clean, smooth and vivid.

The low-end is enormous. The dB500a active version features a Class H amplifier that pumps 400 Watts to the low frequency driver and a Class AB amp that provides 100 Watts to the high frequency section, more than enough power to fill any large club. The efficient Class H amplifier design provides the power to deliver transient spikes with incredible punch and sonic purity.

The dB500a goes beyond concert-quality to studio-quality thanks to Samson's exclusive Optimax process-ing. Optimax processing uses sophisticated circuitry to compress and limit output at ideal levels. Optimax doesthis without using sliding filters, like some active PA speakers. This allows the dB500a to provide huge volume levels without sacrificing low end.

The dB500a offers a practical back-panel mixer-like pre-amp section that provides mic and line inputs with individual input level controls. Controls for the selectable low pass filter and Optimax compressor/limiter are also included. Both the active and the passive versions feature a two-way configura-tion, the same drivers and the same robust cabinets with extensive mounting options. The trapezoidal shape of the speaker cabinet offers more than just superior acoustics. Not only a front-firing PA speaker, the dB500's are also designed to operate as wedge-style monitors.

The cabinet's right and left side panels are joined at different angles, so depending on the side you choose, you get a different dispersion angle, allowing for greater flexibility on stage. Adding to the dB500's practical design is a catalog of mounting options. The compact cabinet can be easily stacked, permanently installed, mounted using the integral 1 3/4 pole mount receptacle or suspended using the six built-in fly points. Setup and break down is quick and easy. They feature heavy-grade steel grills, scuff-resistant textured finishes and rigid corners that offer excellent protection against wear and tear. XLR connectors are built-in to the active version, Neutrik Speakon connectors are built-in to the passive version.
