In the late 90s I bought a Parker Fly guitar. Now I'm a bass player and I was not, nor am I currently, much of a guitarist...but I have loved this guitar for almost 10 years. It's amazingly light, easier to play than any I've ever experienced, and the sound continues to be exactly what I want. When I saw that Parker had finally released a Fly bass, I was afraid to hope for too much...but truly the bass has exceeded my expectations. It's light (though it weighs 7.75 lbs, not 7 or less, as stated all over the web), and has such great contours that it feels like a natural extention of the player's body. The whole thing is friendly to the hands, the ears, and the eyes. No, it doesn't look like a Fender, but be glad for that. There are entirely too many cookie-cutter Fender derivatives out there already, and this bass certainly isn't derivative. Moving the evolution of the instrument one huge step forward, this bass is a piece of art that sounds as good as it feels. Now if only Parker made a fretless. . .
