Debut
The Hipgig's unique concept has provided drummers with a kit that is easy to
pack up, transport and offers excellent performance. Now, the new Rick
Marotta Model is offered with a new, transparent finish. Excited with its ability to
perform anywhere from the street to stage Rick asked that we created a special
kit with same Cherry Wood finish found on our Recording Custom Series.
Real Drums that are Easy to Pack and Carry
Drums fit into the bass drum, hardware fits into the stool. Two tom toms and
the snare all fit snug into the two-piece bass drum which fits into a soft
case. The hardware fits in the the drum case (HG15DC) that doubles as a throne.
The entire set packs up compact for easy transport.
Shells
The Hipgig uses a combination of birch and mahogany to construct 7-ply shells.
Perfectly round shells are achieved through Yamaha's original Air-Seal System
that ensures a durable shell with excellent attack. The bass drum's two-piece
structure is designed so as to retain its original tone. Four air holes are
also incorporated in the bass drum shell provide increased attack, smooth
play and tone.
Tom Holders
With the exception of the hi-hat, all drums and cymbals can be attached to
the bass drum. Three pipe clamps installed on the bass allow easy attachment
of tom toms, snare drum and even two cymbal holders.Yamaha's System Drum
pipe clamp and ball mount and clamp are reliable, easy to operate and extremely
durable.
Lugs
Lug design prevents tension lugs from becoming loose during play. Lugs are
mounted at points where shell vibration is minimally reduced to maintain
optimum shell tone.
Floating Bass Drum System
The Floating Bass Drum System lifts and supports the beater side of the 16" bass
drum allowing the beater to strike the drum in the center of the head.
Drum Head
The bass drum is equipped with Remo Renaissance Power Stroke 3 heads. With
a full, low tone, you won't think you're playing a 16" bass drum. The
10" and 13" toms are small in diameter and use deep sounding Remo
Pin Stripe Heads. We've designed the Hipgig for ultimate tone that lives
up to the Yamaha name.
