The Custom Special 50 is the ideal all tube combo for any player looking for maximum versatility in a compact package.

Capable of operating in either a 50-watt Class-AB mode or a more manageable 15-watt pure Class-A mode the Custom Special 50 can easily deliver enough volume for the live stage in the 50-watt setting, or allow the player to find super saturated lead & blues tones in the 15-watt mode for club and studio gigs.

Loaded with a proven single 12-inch Celestion Vintage30™ speaker in a solid plywood cabinet, the Custom Special 50 is a full two-channel amplifier with completely independent gain, and fully separate EQ’s for clean and lead channels.

Maximum versatility in the clean channel is ensured by the innovative Brit / USA channel voicing switch unique to the Traynor Custom Special Series. This USA / Brit switch actually relocates the tone stack relative to the gain stages in the clean channel, allowing the Custom Special series EQ section to respond with either a crisp ‘American’ style tube amp, for clarity and definition, or with a grittier, more ‘spongy’ ‘British’ flavor associated with the great UK amps of the 60s and 70s.

An Expander circuit that first appeared on Traynor’s popular Custom Valve 80 has been included on the Custom Special 50’s rhythm channel allowing the amp to deliver an almost acoustic-like tone when required.

The Custom Special 50’s lead channel offers more flexibility and a wider tone pallet than competitive tube amps in its class. Modern and Scoop switches offer the player a choice of ‘vintage’ tube drive or a more aggressive ‘scooped’ guitar tone. A solo boost level on the lead channel offers easy access to an additional gain stage, allowing the amp to deliver a clean, crunch and lead tone from the simple two-button footswitch (included).

Accutronics spring reverb, separate parallel effects loop with send and return for external side chain effects like chorus and delays, as well as an in-line loop through for EQ’s, Compressors or other effects, a master volume, Presence and Resonance controls are all included on the Custom Special 50.

As an additional feature the Presence and Resonance can be removed from the circuit with a simple touch of a switch on the front panel, shorting the signal path and delivering a truly vintage tube sound for the tone purist.

Traynor guitar combos are made with a solid plywood cabinet construction. We believe MDF (medium density fiberboard) or particleboard often used by other manufacturers can’t deliver great guitar tone or a long rattle-free life. A full metal grille under our grille cloths protect the Celestion™ speakers. Heavy gauge all-metal box chassis protect electronic components in every model.

I purchased from the YCS-50 from Musicians Buy which has dropped shipped from the factory. The first shipment had to be returned due to a crackling sound after trying the recommended self test provided by the GREAT staff at MusiciansBuy and also from the techincians at Traynor - I must say I was highly impressed with Yorkville by getting a person (not a machine or voice mail) everytime I called (about 3x). MusciansBuy made all the arrangemments and had a brand new replacement to me within a week! Now for the amp - it sounds great, although if you like reverb,you must crank it to 12:00 or to get a richer sound. The expander boost on clean channel gives an excellent acoustic type sound. The bright, usa brit, modern,scoop,voice all work well and adds creative sounds to this amp. I owned a Custom Reverb head back in the late 60's and it was a great amp (too bad they don't reissue those today) and the reliablity was excellent. The cabinet is HEAVY, very well made. The Celestian speaker is of very high quality and offers good clean and dirty sounds from it. This model allows you to change tube types and has a bias tube adj to accomodate that change if ever needed. For the price you cannot beat the features and quality - only downside, I wish it had 2 input jacks vs one. Buy it, you won't be disappointed and buy it from MusciansBuy - they are GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

had it about 2 weeks now and been playing it every day. Every time I turn it on I am surprised at how many sounds I can get out of it. With the brit voicing on the clean channel you can get all kinds of sounds. The reverb is good and the OD is rich and full.

this is a great amp,I have had it about a month,its sounds better the more it breaks in,I was used too fender amps so it took me awhile too dial in the tones i wanted, I use a fender strat, and a rc designs aspen semi hollow body,i can get any sound i want out of it,there is more than enough gain,too get a clean sound out othe lead channel,turn the master up three quarters,the gain,one quater,volume aliitle over half,plenty of sustain,buy this you will not be disappointed,but be patient until you learn how too use it,gary
