ELLIPSE 8 PASSIVE
Following the success of the Active and iDP versions of the Ellipse studio monitor, Tannoy is proud to introduce the new Ellipse Passive range. The Ellipse has become a studio icon since its launch in early 2003, winning the affections of many of the world’s top producers and engineers and finding a home in professional recording studios on both sides of the Atlantic, thanks to its warm and extremely accurate sound. Such has been the demand for a Passive version of Ellipse from studio owners with existing amplification; it became clear that Tannoy should deliver exactly that.
Enter the Ellipse Passive…
The Ellipse Passive range comprises of the Ellipse 8 Passive, featuring an 8” Dual Concentric™ driver and the Ellipse 10 Passive, with a 10” Dual Concentric™ driver. On both models, the Dual Concentric™ components and the SuperTweeter™ are seamlessly matched by a precision low-loss crossover network. The drive units are mounted on a baffle of elliptical shape to minimise diffraction and create distinctive styling. During both mixing and playback the new Ellipse Passives provide a stunningly accurate soundstage, retaining natural voicing to ensure that aural effects and speech localisation pan from left to right and front to rear absolutely seamlessly.
The Dual Concentric™ covers most of the audible band – its flat frequency response from a single point source is essential in maintaining accurate phase for the generation of stereo and surround audio images. Wideband Technology has enabled us to add a sophisticated, very high frequency driver (the SuperTweeter™), time-aligned to the acoustic centre of the Dual Concentric™, which accurately reproduces frequencies above the roll-off point of the Dual Concentric™ HF unit and all the way up to 50kHz.

Our Happy Customers
"Your staff has treated me with the utmost professionalism and empathy. While I know my order was extremely small compared to the majority of your customers, it was very important to me. I cried when I saw the damage to what I considered a work of art.I have another guitar (with a hard case) on the way. I am sure my son will cherish it. Due to the most unfortunate of circumstances, I am now a customer for life. Thanks, Rob"
