This Hi-MD™ portable audio recorder is ideal for journalists and musicians who need to make high-quality stereo audio recordings using cost-effective removable media. The Sony MZM 200 recorder comes supplied with an ECM-DS70P Stereo Microphone and MDR-EO931Earbud Headphone. The recorder uses affordable Hi-MD™ media with 1 GB storage capacity. Three Hi-MD recording modes are supported including: Linear (PCM) 44.1kHz/16-bit, ATRAC3plus 256kbps (Hi-SP) mode and ATRAC3plus 64bps (Hi-LP) mode. In addition, three conventional MD recording modes are supported including: ATRAC 292kbps (SP), ATRAC3 132kbps (LP2) and ATRAC3 66kbps (LP4). The recorder supports USB 2.0 uploading + downloading with PC (using supplied Sonic Stage software), and USB uploading with MAC (using supplied Hi-MD Music Transfer software), allowing transferring audio recordings to a computer and storing them on the computer in .Wav file format. This Hi-MD™ device can also be used as a USB mass storage device, allowing storing data files on the Hi-MD™ disc along with audio recordings.
Hi-MD™ Recording Format
First and foremost: high sound quality. Supports up to 94 minutes of high quality PCM Linear recording (equal to CD) using Hi-MD media. Alternatively, selection for high quality ATRAC3plus compressed audio recordings allows up to 34 hours of recording on one Hi-MD™ disc. The MZM 200 also supports conventional MD recording modes (SP, LP2 and LP4), allowing for making an MD recording on conventional MD media that is compatible for playback on a conventional MD deck.
Hi-MD™ Media
Affordable Hi-MD™ media. 1GB high-capacity storage for several dollars, re-writeable, plus it's durable due to it's protected enclosure! Compared to other more expensive digital storage technologies used for portable audio recording; your important audio recordings have the option of remaining on Hi-MD™ media, because you won't have to immediately transfer them to a computer just to reclaim a piece of cost-prohibitive storage media. In addition; Hi-MD™media is rewritable, so it can also be reused over and over.
USB Data File Storage
Hi-MD™ uses the FAT file system, making it possible to use "Hi-MD" formatted MDs and 1GB "Hi-MD" discs as versatile media for recording data files. Hi-MD™ complies with USB format's Mass Storage Class, ensuring that simply by connecting a "Hi-MD" recorder to a PC it is immediately recognized as an external storage device.
Bright EL (Organic Electroluminescence) Display
Allows easy viewing in all conditions. Ergonomic display layout makes it simple to navigate though operational menu selections, plus easy to view several recorder statuses in a single glance.
Self Record Uploading to PC
Upon transferring Hi-MD recordings to Sonic Stage® software on your WIN-PC, you have an option to store these files as .wav files. This allows easy access to the .wav files with popular audio editing and signal processing applications.
Self Record Uploading to MAC
Upon transferring Hi-MD recordings to the Hi-MD Music Transfer software on a MAC, these files are stored as .WAV files. This allows easy access to the .wav files with popular audio editing and signal processing applications. Note: Only Hi-MD (PCM, Hi-SP or Hi-LP) self-recordings made on MZ-M100, MZ-M10, MZ-M200 or MZ-RH1 Hi-MD recorder models can be imported into a MAC using the Hi-MD Music Transfer software.
Recorder Battery Life (Using Hi-MD™ Media)
For Linear PCM recording mode, Up to 6 hours of recording, or up to 10 hours of playback. For ATRAC3plus Hi-SP mode, Up to 9 hours of recording, or up to 15.5 hours of playback. For ATRAC3plus Hi-LP Mode, Up to 10.5 hours of recording or up to 19 hours of playback.
