This thing rocks! This is by far the best sounding amp i have ever played. I must say i have not played an old plexi, but this is supposed to be the next best thing, and at 20w it was perfect for my small house. This amp has a beauty ttone that almost chimes, and at the same time you can get the dirtyest crunch out of it. Buy one... DO IT!

I purchased the amplifier to fill a need in my studio for the classic Marshall rock sound. I wanted the full blast cranked Marshall sound (found on a large percentage of rock hits) without the extreme volume that a 50 or 100 watt head on a 4-12 cabinet would produce. This amp really has the sound! Subtile changes in volume and tone settings on the guitar and the ampifier will take you from clean to screaming distortion. There are 4 inputs. 2 in the lead and two in the bass channels. The bottom inputs are slightly quieter than the top inputs. You can jump or daisy chain for different tones. I have been using the top inputs mostly. The amplifier has a switch to match speaker cabinet impedance. I find that usefull when I use the amp for bass guitar and use a 4 ohm,4-15 speaker cabinet. The 2061CX 2-12 cabinet is 8 ohm. The 2061X head and the 2061CX cabinet get 10 ratings with the understanding that the product is a reproduction of a late '60s early '70s amplifier. No reverb. No gain. No tremelo. Just flawless craftsmanship. Toys are nice but often times the best sound is straight out of the box. Don't let the 20 watt designation fool you. This amp is loud. Many old musicians tell me that a valve Marshall is as loud as a Fender with twice the watt rating. I have a '55 Fender Pro with 1-15, a Fender Twin with 2-12s, Fender DeVille with 4-10s, and a Crate Vintage 50 with 2-12s setting next to the Marshall. The Marshall 2061X is loud enough for any rooms that I have played other than an outdoor grandstand concert stage where I would be using a microphone anyway (no line out and the best sound is out of the speakers). The 2061 set-up works on bass also. I am a professional bass player. I like the tube distortion but you would not buy this amp to be a state-of-the-art bass amplifer. Not enought low hertz.
