MIDIMAN PROTOOLSV7 Details

Pro Tools M-Powered 7 software puts the industry standard in audio/MIDI production on the fast track, letting you enter the exciting world of Pro Tools on your own terms. No lite version here—Pro Tools M-Powered has the same user interface as Pro Tools and Pro Tools LE, all while expanding your creative hardware options to nearly 20 M-Audio interfaces*. Session compatibility with all current versions of Pro Tools software means that you can easily move your projects between pro, project and mobile personal studios.

Real Pro Tools

Pro Tools M-Powered isn’t some watered-down version of Pro Tools. It is Pro Tools. There are actually three flavors of Pro Tools, all of which basically share the same user interface and file format. The primary distinction is what hardware they’re keyed to. Pro Tools HD 7 runs on elite Pro Tools|HD hardware. Pro Tools LE 7 works with Digidesign’s Mbox, Mbox 2, Digi 002 and Digi 002 Rack. And Pro Tools M-Powered delivers even more options via compatibility with nearly 20 affordable M-Audio interfaces. Now there’s no excuse for not having the industry-standard DAW in your creative toolbox.

Produce with the Industry Standard—Anywhere, Anytime

The combination of M-Audio gear and Pro Tools M-Powered 7 lets you work anywhere, anytime with the industry standard in music production software. Seamlessly collaborate with anybody running any version of a current Pro Tools system, including cross-platform between Windows XP and Mac OS X. Easily take your projects to just about any recording studio to have it mixed by a pro. Or take your pro studio projects home or on the road with you. With Pro Tools M-Powered 7, owners of most M-Audio interfaces instantly become members of the largest community of digital audio workstation users in the world.

Professional Recording, Editing and Mixing

Pro Tools M-Powered 7 software allows M-Audio hardware enthusiasts to easily enter the powerful recording, editing, and mixing features of Pro Tools. With up to 32 simultaneous tracks of 16- or 24-bit digital audio, and support for up to 96kHz sample rates, Pro Tools M-Powered 7 is an ideal companion for M-Audio interfaces and audio interface keyboards—whether you’re recording solo or entire bands. And the optional Music Production Toolkit expands Pro Tools M-Powered 7 to up to 48 mono or stereo tracks, and adds more effects and instruments, a multi-track version of Beat Detective and the Pro Tools MP3 Option.

Once you’ve finished your recording, you can fine-tune your performances with Pro Tools’ unmatched nondestructive editing tools. Shape sounds, compose parts, and add effects with RTAS instrument and effects plug-ins. Create polished mixes with professional mixing features and full mixer automation.

Quantizing MIDI data is one thing—but did you know that Pro Tools M-Powered also enables you to quantize audio? With Beat Detective LE, you can automatically analyze and tighten your rhythm tracks. You can even create groove templates from other loops or songs and apply them to your own material. With Pro Tools M-Powered 7, you’ve got the tools you need to create professional mixes wherever you want to take your music.

Affordable

There was a time when many musicians couldn’t afford the price of entry into the world of Pro Tools. That’s all history, thanks to Pro Tools M-Powered 7. It dramatically lowers the bar on price, while raising it for creative options. To sweeten the deal, you get over 43 production plug-ins for free, including the incredible Xpand! Multi-Synthesis Sound Factory.

ReWire for Ableton Live

Fans of Ableton Live will love Pro Tools M-Powered 7’s ability to accept Live’s output stream via ReWire for further mixing and processing. You get the best of both worlds—Ableton Live’s incredibly fluid real-time writing, production and remixing environment along with the industry standard in tracking, editing and mixing.

Control Surfaces

If you want the tactile feel of a pro console while enjoying the benefits of a personal or project studio, Pro Tools M-Powered 7 supports both Digidesign’s Command|8 and M-Audio’s ProjectMix I/O. Both give you control over the software’s MIDI functionality. ProjectMix I/O even incorporates a built-in 10 x 10 FireWire audio interface complete with eight preamps so you don’t need any extra gear.

* Pro Tools M-Powered 7 software requires a supported M-Audio hardware interface to function.
** powered 6-pin FireWire port required
* Pro Tools M-Powered does not support DV Toolkit and SMPTE Time Window.

Easy to Use
Pro Tools M-Powered is very simple and intuitive. Elegance and power are the reasons why Pro Tools is used in the majority of professional recording studios around the world. And once you know how to use one version of Pro Tools, you know how to work in any Pro Tools environment—from personal studio to pro studio. And if you want help, Pro Tools is supported by more educational materials and classes than all other DAW software put together.

Flexible and Portable—More Choices for You

A variety of M-Audio PCI, FireWire and USB hardware interfaces are compatible with Pro Tools M-Powered 7 software, giving you more choices in where, when and how you work. For high-fidelity I/O in a PCI-based system, our entire Delta line is compatible with Pro Tools M-Powered 7—from the personal 2-channel Audiophile 2496 and Audiophile 192 cards all the way up to the 10 x 10 Delta 1010. For Pro Tools recording on the go, our compatible USB products range from the pocket-sized Transit to the MobilePre USB with dual preamps, and Fast Track USB (2-in, 2-out). M-Audio bus-powered FireWire interfaces** like our FireWire 410 (4-in/10-out) and FireWire 1814 (18-in/14-out) provide even more I/O and higher sampling rates, letting you easily put together a multi-channel studio-to-go.

All-In-One Gear for Guitarists, Keyboardists and Producers

One of the benefits of Pro Tools M-Powered 7 is that you can harness the creative power of specialized M-Audio production hardware. The Black Box not only gives guitarists killer amp modeling and unique beat-synced effects, it serves as a Pro Tools M-Powered-compatible audio interface for Mac and PC platforms. Keyboardists and electronic music producers also benefit from our Ozone and Ozonic, both of which integrate a keyboard, MIDI control surface, audio/MIDI interface, mic/instrument preamp and headphone monitoring.

Advanced MIDI Sequencing

Pro Tools M-Powered 7’s fully integrated MIDI sequencer allows you to record, edit, and mix up to 256 MIDI tracks alongside your audio tracks. New dedicated Instrument tracks combine the audio and MIDI elements of a given virtual instrument into a single channel strip to streamline your workspace. Launch your favorite instrument plug-in to get the sound you want. Engage loop recording to quickly develop a multi-layered drum pattern, then use Groove Quantize or Groove Templates to give it the right feel. Switch to MIDI Step Input to lay down a difficult passage. Turn on real-time MIDI processing to quantize your performance as it goes down. And use new advanced editing features to easily tweak everything to perfection.

Plug-ins Galore

Pro Tools M-Powered 7 software not only provides access to award-winning Pro Tools software—you’re also instantly able to take advantage of a variety of RTAS and AudioSuite plug-ins designed by the recording industry’s largest professional third-party developer community. Track with powerful host-based vintage instruments like GForce’s Oddity and Minimonsta:Melohman. Add spice with Wizoo’s Latigo and Darbuka virtual percussionists. And polish your mixes with affordable effects and mastering plug-ins like iZotope Ozone and Spectron that surpass even expensive hardware. (All GForce, Wizoo and iZotope plug-ins are sold separately.)

Pro Tools M-Powered 7 also includes more than 43 DigiRack and Bomb Factory plug-ins right out of the box, including EQ, dynamics, delay, reverb, and many more. You also get Digidesign’s exciting new virtual synth powerhouse, Xpand!, absolutely free. Xpand! ships with over 1,000 factory patches comprised of up to four parts and features four built-in arpeggiators and two effects processors

More Power to Create

Pro Tools 7 Software Optimizations Deliver Host-processing Performance Increases Up to 150%

back to Mixing and Processing Capabilities

Pro Tools 7 software boasts powerful RTAS plug-in performance improvements within the RTAS engine and the RTAS plug-in environment, allowing Pro Tools HD 7, Pro Tools LE 7, and Pro Tools M-Powered 7 software users to run significantly more RTAS processing and instrument plug-ins on multi-processor computers.

The RTAS engine in Pro Tools 7 software has been completely overhauled for load-balanced multi-processor support. This enables you to take advantage of every available host processor in your system to perform RTAS processing — delivering plug-in instance counts that scale with the number of processors in your computer. For example, you will see up to twice the number of RTAS plug-ins on dual-processor computers. Preliminary tests† with Digidesign's EQ III shows a performance increase of 98% with Pro Tools 7 software vs. Pro Tools 6.9.2 software.†† Digidesign's D-Verb plug-in also shows similar results, demonstrating a performance increase of 83%. Native Instruments Battery 2 showed a 60% performance increase with Pro Tools 7 software.

Thanks to the enhanced RTAS plug-in environment in Pro Tools 7 software, plug-in developers can create more efficient processing and instrument plug-ins — allowing Pro Tools users to enjoy more plug-in instances on multi-processor systems. When used in tandem with the enhanced multi-processor RTAS engine, select plug-ins will benefit significantly, delivering up to 150% more plug-in instances on dual-processor computers. For example, Arturia's CS-80V virtual synthesizer shows a performance increase of 125% with Pro Tools 7 software* vs. Pro Tools 6.9.2 software.** Way Out Ware's TimewARP 2600 virtual synthesizer also shows clear performance gains, demonstrating a performance increase of 114% over pre-Pro Tools 7 software. Digidesign's EQ III showed an impressive 151% performance increase with Pro Tools 7 software.

† Tests were performed using Pro Tools LE 7 software and a Digi 002 system running on a dual-core Pentium D 3.0 GHz, and a Power Mac G5 Dual 2.3 GHz
†† Tests were performed using a dual-core Pentium D 3.0 GHz system
* Tests were performed using optimized "beta RTAS plug-ins on a Power Mac G5 Dual 2.3 GHz system (two processors used)
** Tests were performed using non-optimized RTAS plug-ins on a Power Mac G5 Dual 2.3 GHz system (one processor used)

NOTE: Plug-in performance data was produced using systems and software mentioned above, using "beta" versions of optimized plug-ins. Results may vary based on your individual hardware and software configuration.

Final release testing of Pro Tools 7.0 has shown that there are some performance issues with certain RTAS plug-ins when used with single processor computers. Instance counts on OS X-based LE systems may show a small decrease with certain plug-ins; Windows XP-based LE systems may incur a small performance hit as well with these plug-ins. All plug-ins tested show significant instance count gains on dual-processor computers. Digidesign is actively looking at these issues and hopes to have a fix for this as soon as possible.
