This is my first classical guitar having always played steel strings in past. Before purchase, I compared it with several other "entry level" brands and it always seemed to come out on top for quality vs. price. The biggest problem with on-line purchase is not being able to actually play the guitar you are considering however, I did play other Yamaha models and was very satisfied with the sound. I figured since these are not hand made guitars, one would sound very similar to another and I think that is the case. I did lower the action some as I have done on all other guitars I have owned and find it helps. I did not notice any change in the volume and the tone actually seemed to improve. I found that medium strings worked better than hard. All in all a good guitar that I think I will enjoy for many years.

Great bargain here. Bought this as a practice piece and now I pick it up more than my 1A Hernandis. Great feel and workmanship, though it could do with a bone nut
