JBL SRX728S Details
For over a decade, JBL SR and SRX series speakers have represented the best performance, highest quality and most advanced driver technology available to portable PA users. The SRX700 series continues that tradition and moves the bar even higher.
The advanced technology of SRX700 series speakers delivers the power and performance that you would expect from the highest quality, professional rig. At the same time, JBL innovation and design have reduced system weight so load in and out are a breeze. All this performance is housed in rugged birch enclosures for years of superb performance.
All SRX700 2 and 3-way models may be operated full-range or bi-amplified. The selection is made by means of a high-current, recessed switch mounted on the input plate. The switch is accessible while also being protected from accidental mis-setting.
The same switch arrangement is used on the subwoofer to select +/-1 or +/-2 operation.
SRX700 is constructed of top quality birch plywood and coated in JBL's rugged DuraFlex™ finish. Extensive use of internal braces and bulkheads makes the enclosures extremely rigid. This reduces acoustic losses caused by panel resonance. The attractive CNC-machined, 16-gauge steel grille wraps around the sides of the enclosure so there are no protruding lips on the front of the system to create acoustical interference. The grilles are internally lined with acoustically transparent foam to provide additional driver protection and give a totally professional appearance.
High Power
Amplifier manufacturers are building amps that can produce more power at less cost than ever before. The SRX700 series lets you unleash that power with a new generation of very high power low-frequency drivers. That would be enough for most manufacturers, but JBL accomplished this while also greatly reducing the weight of the drivers.
Incredibly Lightweight
SRX700 uses JBL's parented Differential Drive® woofers with neodymium magnets. Neodymium's magnetic properties allow a few ounces to replace pounds of conventional magnet.
SRX728S - Dual 18" subwoofer
The SRX728S is buyilt to deliver smooth, clean, accurate low-end. A pair of 18" Differential Drive® woofers provide extension down to 27 Hz while handling an amazing 1600 watts of continuous power. Large, open ducts minimize port turbulance and the heavily braced enclosure assures tight, solid bass. An external switch allows the SRX728S to be used with cabling systems designed to power subs from contacts ±1 or ±2.
Key Features:
•Dual 18 inch, 2268H Differential
Drive® woofers for extended lowfrequency
output
•Large vent area for reduced
distortion
Applications
•Live performance venues
•Mobile and fixed DJ systems
•Sound system rental
The SRX728S is a high power
subwoofer system containing two
2268H neodymium magnet, patented*
Differential Drive®, 18" woofers in a
front-loaded, vented enclosure. The
enclosure is designed to present a
minimum frontal area. The system
offers complete input connection
flexibility for compatibility with a
variety of cabling schemes. A recessed,
external switch allows selection of
either contacts +1/-1 or +2/-2. By
relocating an internal connector, it is
also possible to drive each woofer
discretely from a separate amplifier
channel.
The enclosure is constructed of top
quality birch plywood and coated in
JBL’s rugged DuraFlex™ finish. Each
woofer is housed in an isolated
chamber and the enclosure is heavily
braced to maximize low-frequency
performance. The attractive CNCmachined,
16-gauge steel grille is
internally lined with acoustically
transparent foam to provide additional
driver protection and give a very
professional appearance.

This Sub really kicks ass!!! I power mine with a QSC Plx3402 in Bridged Mono Mode and it handles the 3600 watts with no problem and gives you that THUMP you feel in your chest. It is a little heavy (160lbs) but I put castors on mine so I can wheel it around.

Just purchased this sub 2 weeks ago for my son's Birthday party in our backyard and was very happy with the overall sound quality: tight deep bass, smooth roll-of frequencies, well built. This sub is a little power hungry since I bridged an QSC RMX-4050HD with 4000 Watts RMS into 4 ohms which this sub is rated at 4 ohms, and still not enough power to crank it at its loudest. However, if I crank it up any louder, I will get a citation from the city since the cops already came for the first warning due to our neighbors complaints at 1 2 or 1 mile away in the valley. My system included: Main Speakers: JBL 725 (2x) Sub Woofer: JBL 728s(1x) Amplifiers: QSC RMX2450 (2x) QSC RMX4050HD(1x) Processor EQ: DBX Driverack PA(1x) Mixer: Pioneer JDM800(1x) CD: Pioneer CDJ800MK2(2x) This system was purchased for home uses and had many compliments from professional DJ for its sound quality
